Process + Expectations

1. Meet & Greet

The very first step is the initial Meet & Greet. This is the beginning conversations of the project, who you are and what you’re looking for. This should take no more than 30 minutes and will let us know if we’re a good fit for each other and if I can tackle all your design needs. This is a free phone consultation.

2. Discovery Visit

This is where the Discovery Visit happens. After we decide we’re a good fit for each other now, we truly get to know each other. I get to look at the space and get a sense of who you are. This step is incredibly valuable so I can tailor your space for YOU. I charge for this consultation for every project because I want to provide you with valuable design help, without holding back my best design advice and ideas right off the bat. This meeting is at the project site (or virtual walk-through), up to 2 hrs.

3. Scope of Work/Contract

I will prepare the Scope of Work document, outlining everything we talked about in the Meet & Greet and the Discovery Visit. Here, you will sign the document and pay 50% of the project costs up front. At the end of design delivery, you will pay the remaining 50% of the Scope of Work.

4. Design Delivery

After the Scope of Work has been signed, I will begin the design process and delivery of materials. Depending on the level of services and the scale of the project will determine the timeline of delivery.

The Process .

Design is a collaborative process. Through the Discovery Visit, I will get some information from you, ask questions, walk your space and get a sense of who you are. Depending on the level of services you seek, we can set up a Pinterest page to share images – this is a great tool to like/ dislike images and add comments to help me better understand you. I always encourage you to share any inspiration images you have.

Some questions include:

  • Do you have an existing style? Let’s find out!
  • Do you have a cultural background/ heritage that you want to shine through?
  • What items do you want to keep?
  • What colors make you happy or ones you dislike?
  • What is your budget?
  • How do you want the space to function?

There will be some back and forth. After my initial assessment, I will send you a custom Design Board with images. You will have the opportunity to yay or nay anything and provide more feedback on if it’s the right style for you. I will make corrections and send you a second/ final document. We can discuss further if additional changes need to be made.

If the Scope of Work includes specific information, furniture, etc. I will follow up with additional documentation.

Expectations .

Since this is a partnership, I will ask for a level of involvement from you to create your style. This can include:

  • If we share a Pinterest board, you will need to like/dislike images.
  • Provide sufficient feedback on draft documents.
  • What aspects really resonate with you that you like?
  • What is in the wrong direction and why?
  • Approval/ rejection of selected items.

What can you expect from me?

  • Delivery of material in a timely manner – this will depend on project scope and size.
  • An approachable personality – open to hearing your thoughts, concerns, excitements!
  • Clear communication on budget and scope.
